Position Title: Case Manager/Office Assistant
Reports To: Shelter Director
Classification: Non- Exempt Revised: 09/06/2023

Scope:
The Case Manager assists the Director with the daily operation of the family and men’s shelters.
This includes ensuring a safe and secure shelter environment, offering support services to
residents, some administrative tasks, and event planning.
Accountabilities:
Operations: 55%
Assists with the daily operation of the family and men’s shelters.
Ensures safe and secured shelter environments.
Assists with case management and offers support services fairly and equitably to a
diverse population of shelter residents.
Performs shelter inspections daily.
Communicates shelter maintenance issues to the Director and/or Board and coordinates
repairs.
Performs monthly safety checks and maintains records.

Administrative: 35%
Performs prescreens and processes new admissions.
Schedules and completes intakes and coordinated entry for all residents.
Completes accurate and timely case notes for interactions with and about residents as
they occur.
Answers and returns calls as necessary within a 24-hour period.
Attends training and meetings related to case management.
Attends professional development training and meetings related to case management,
homeless populations, and general human services content.
Maintains accurate files for residents and creates a process for self-auditing.

Miscellaneous: 10%
Required to assist and attend fundraising events.
Participate in PIT count 2 times per year (January/July)
Other duties as assigned.

sufficiency.

Strong customer service skills. Ability to diffuse highly escalated situations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to convey messages to
individuals of diverse backgrounds and enter case comments into databases.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong time management skills.
This job requires skills needed in a typical office environment, including computer skills
and utilization of office equipment.
Ability to interact, build, and maintain relationships with landlords.

Complete annual Civil Rights and Confidentiality training. Always maintain and model confidentiality practices.
Physical Demands

Employees are frequently required to stand, sit, walk, and bend.
Cleaning duties at the shelter when needed.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Occasionally required to drive.
Occasional maintenance at the shelter.
Weekends and nights may be required.
Education and Special Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in

an office setting with documented customer service experience with both phone and face-
to-face interactions and demonstrated proficiency in computer keyboarding and computer

software and applications. Equivalent combination of education and experience which
provides necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and car insurance.
Case Management experience preferred.
Knowledge of general office practices
30 hours per week, $ 15-16 per hour, paid sick time, 2 weeks’ vacation upon hire, and paid
Holiday time. No retirement plans or health insurance.
